Well, the results of our investigation are in. After the long hours of hard work and painstaking research, we have a winner. And there’s a video at the end.
For full details and post-investigation analysis, go to the Scissors vs Pizza Wheel pages.
If you have any questions about this investigation or want help in understanding the results, please post a comment here!

This is more of a thankyou than a query. I reckon this investigation was the best thing I’ve ever seen on a blog. (I know people reading it think I’m slightly biased but it IS genuinely brilliant!)
Most interesting, Uncle Quentin should be informed. The research is vital to the future of official government lunching policies. Well done dudes, kept me fascinated for weeks, I still want courguette, plus melon plus cake on the side. Cut with either implement.
Glad you’ve both enjoyed it
Maeve - you entered “none” into the website box when you posted a comment, which I assume means you don’t have one. This is of course fine, but it actually creates a link, which opens the Sixpence None The Richer Site! (I’ve just checked, and it does this in Firefox, but not from IE - weird! Try typing just “none”, no http:// or http://www. or .com/.uk/.etc, just “none” into the address bar in Firefox).
Anyway, just to let you know that you can leave that box blank if you don’t want to link to anywhere. I’ve now removed the phony link from your post - however, if you did intend to send us to Sixpence None The Richer, then I apologise and will put it back!
I’d like to protest about comments made on the conclusion page. You seem to imply that the scissors are better than the pizza cutter at cutting pizza - but this is not true. The experiment was born out of your mistaken belief that this was the case, and as the experiment has clearly shown, the pizza cutter is a better kitchen implement there is - and hence by extension is better at cutting pizza.
A close run thing in the end then…… quality idea mate.
Can’t wait for the next investigation!
finally somebody else who appreciates the glory of scissors! i recommend them for topping and tailing green beans.
Rob - I think we already covered the pizza point. It was felt by both myself and Simon that scissors cut pizza better, due largely to the topping displacement so often caused by a pizza cutter - the tendancy to drag the topping with it while parting the base.
Jon - green beans, eh? A good tip!
Rob, scissors are clearly superior to the pizza cutter at cutting pizza.
Since when have you and Simon been the deciders of fact???? Only a retard would choose scissors over the mighty pizza cutter.
Er, Rob, is there something you’d like to tell us about in terms of your “relations” with the pizza cutter…Heehee.
Well, i put this to the test this eve, and while scissors cut pizza really well, there is the risk of burning your fingers!!
Haha, there is a slight issue there, that’s true. Doesn’t stop me using scissors though.
